The airport is also known as HAL Airport. It is the third busiest airport in India and handles over 7 million passengers a year, with an average of 300 flights a day. The airport is on Airport Road, just off the Airport-Varthur Road.

Car Parking

There are two car parks at the airport, one in front of each terminal. Between them they offer 1,000 parking spaces.

Car Hire

There are no car hire companies at the airport. Avis have a desk at the Oberoi (tel: (80) 255 85869) and Hertz have one at the Kaveri Service Station on Airport Road (tel: (80) 51151385).

Public Transport

Road: Bus: A city bus serves the airport. Taxi: Taxis are available 24 hours a day. The journey to the city centre takes about 30 minutes (longer in rush hour). An inter-state bus service is also available round the clock. Many hotels arrange pick up at the airport for their guests.

A Tourism Information Centre is located in the arrivals hall of the domestic terminal.

Money and communications: Bank, post office, foreign exchange and telephones are all available at the airport.
Eating and drinking: Café, snack bars and restaurants are available.
Shopping: Shops selling books and local handicrafts can be found in both terminals. Duty-free shopping is also available in the international terminal.
Luggage: Lost and found office and trolleys.
Other facilities: There is a childcare room and a hotel reservation desk. The HAL Heritage Centre and Aerospace Museum is located nearby on Airport-Varthur Road.

Conference and Business Facilities

The HAL Convention Centre on Airport-Varthur Road (tel: (80) 529 8341) is available for seminars and conferences. Most of the big hotels in town also have meeting and conference facilities.
